Where De Gold At
Whenever I hear men call women they used to date 'gold diggers,' I can't help but wonder, where’s the gold? A funny quote I saw online “Broke dusty always be protecting their empty wallet”. 🌝
I’ve personally never been called a gold digger, so I can’t imagine what that feels like on the receiving end. From the wealthy people I know, they are happy to provide for their families and the people they love and would never label them as gold diggers.
So whenever I hear it, it just gives me a 'salty and bitter' vibe. This is a savory and bitter drink with a dramatically fragile garnish—mocks those who throw around this term at people they willingly spent their time and energy on, only to complain later. No gold was involved to complete this drink 😉
Recipe:
- Salted egg yolk washed Talisker whiskey 2oz
(Salted egg yolk usually can be found in asian grocery story, to get the most of the flavor I grind them and pan fry them to get the oils out and let cool before pouring the whiskey in. Then the standard fat wash process)
- Nixta corn liqueur 0.5oz
- Amaro 0.5oz
- Walnut bitters 2 dashes
- 1 bar spoon of maltose syrup.
Garnish
- 40g red bean soup? ( I cooked them then add some light brown sugar) mixed with 0.4g agar agar. Put a small bowl with sliced salted egg yolk then you pour the red bean mix over while its still warm, let it cool and the gel forms. Find your preferred pattern and cut with a circular cookie cutter
- Spun sugar. Add 1/4cup sugar, 1/8 cup water and 1TBSP corn syrup. Don’t stir it, let it boil and hit 320F hard crack point, then monitor the color. Make sure it gets to golden color, and use a fork to start the spun work.
- I added a touch of green with oregano leaf
